AFC Urgent Care is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Medical Assistant to join our growing team in Cicero. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working with patients of all ages, and are passionate about providing exceptional care, we'd love to meet you.
As a Medical Assistant, you'll work alongside providers and fellow clinical staff to deliver high-quality urgent care while ensuring an outstanding patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during procedures
- Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection, EKGs, injections, and other clinical duties within scope of practice
- Assist with X-rays (if licensed/trained)
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens
- Clean, stock, and prepare exam rooms
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
- Assist with occupational medicine services, physicals, and workers' compensation visits
- Maintain infection control and OSHA compliance standards
- Support front office operations as needed, including patient registration and insurance verification
- Deliver excellent customer service to every patient and team member
Qualifications
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Previous urgent care, emergency medicine, family practice, or primary care experience preferred
- Phlebotomy experience required
- X-ray certification preferred but not required
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with EMR systems and basic computer skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Schedule
- Full-time
- Flexible availability required
- Must be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Clinic hours:
- Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
